I purchased this piece from a lovely older gentleman from Craigslist because of the drawers with their interesting black “tattoos.”

I sanded and then applied danish oil to the top of the vanity but the drawers were in rough shape and I was unable to keep the “tattoo” patterns.

I wasn’t sure how I wanted to proceed with the drawers.  At first I stenciled one of them, but didn’t think it was the right look for the vanity.

I’ve modge-podged fabric as a drawer liner but never on a drawer front.  I’ve always liked this fabric, so I modge-podged it to the drawers.

I painted the vanity and mirror with Annie Sloan’s Old White chalk paint, then lightly distressed both pieces.

I’m painting and reupholstering an adorable vanity chair that a friend gave me to accompany this piece.  The vanity is for sale at The Plaid Rabbit.
