Glamorous Vanity

A gift from my sister, this vanity sat in my garage for six months while I was working on other projects and pondering how  to transform it.  Initially it was going to be a silver metallic, but a friend showed me a new bronze metallic paint color.   It’s always fun to try something new!

It was missing four out of six knobs so new hardware was needed.  I think of hardware as furniture’s jewelry or accessory.  It’s a place you can try different styles to see which one you’ll like best.

I had this fabric and thought it would look perfect on the vanity chair.  To make the vanity have a little “zing” to it, I painted the mirror in black, playing off the fabric.

Whether in a bedroom or bathroom, this vanity will add some personality to the room.  This piece is for sale at the Plaid Rabbit in the Village of East Davenport, 1018 Mound Street.

Official Before and After Photos

These was the most sought after piece of my recent sale, but a friend and neighbor nabbed it just as I was opening for her teenage daughter.  Lucky gal.

This hand crafted chair was discovered in an alley one beautiful Sunday afternoon.  After some reinforcing, sanding, painting and a new seat, this “Eagle” chair soars once again.

Here are the “official” before and after photos of this fine French lady.  After chalk paint, glazing and a buff wax job, she’s ready to roll into someone’s home.  I think she’d be great in a dining room as a buffet.

I was so eager to renew these pieces that I forgot to take a “before” photo, but trust me when I say they needed some loving.

This green apple magazine table will be gracing a young teenage girl‘s bedroom.

This tea cart has the original wood handle and wood wheels.

This dressing table chair has found a new home with a photographer for use with portraits.

If I hadn’t already traumatized my daughter with a bed frame change, I would definitely put this in her room.  The art deco style is classic but funky.  It had been painted in shiny gold metallic paint when I first spied her.
