The two items I am featuring in today’s post are both from friends. The orange cabinet was unsold after a neighborhood yard sale and a friend brought it to me rather than see it thrown away.
It had a horrible top cushion with the late seventies faux “leather” in orange with nubby tweedy fabric on the other side.
Both ends of the piece had large holes cut for the stereo speakers, but the sides were also covered with the same faux “leather” fabric, so who knows how well anyone could hear the speakers. Plus the cabinets are narrow, so the speakers couldn’t have been too powerful. The details look Moroccan to me ~ I love them. The piece needed some feet so I added some bun feet, painting black. The middle cabinet has two different ways to open plus a funky little drawer. The details are what I love the most.
Another friend called to share that she was putting two items by the curb for garage pick up if I didn’t want them. The cedar chest below is one of the items I couldn’t pass up. It was missing a few screws in the hinges but otherwise was in great shape. I love green apple and I’ve wanted to use this stencil for some time and the cedar chest was the perfect candidate. It would make an excellent toy chest or a great place for extra linens or towels. It is now available for sale at the Plaid Rabbit.
